“When we debuted male Shepard back in 2006 [for Mass Effect], 10 years ago, it was a time when we drew inspiration from traditional entertainment marketing. So: ‘We need an iconic main character. We need an iconic everything else.’
“But I think the whole industry, us included, have moved beyond that. Our games let you choose your main character, I think everyone gets that nowadays. You don’t need to see a character identify with, in the same way you might on a movie poster. People want to create their own characters, customize them, and we’re embracing that.”
In other words: Mass Effect: Andromeda will be inclusive for all fans. By being able to have more choices when customizing characters and game choices, fans will have no problem with immersion. Bioware has been flirting with the idea of having a neutral protagonist on the game’s box art just like Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Stepping away from the issue at hand, Mass Effect Andromeda will release in early 2017. Originally due to be out earlier this year, Bioware wanted to take the time to make sure it had time to develop and deliver the best quality product they can. After the ending fiasco of Mass Effect 3, who could blame them?
Mass Effect Andromeda is due to release March 2017 for Playstation 4, PC, and
