It’s almost time to welcome back Commander Shepard! Mass Effect’s much-anticipated remastered return has an official release date and a few new details. As well as the release announcement, we have an epic new trailer to build excitement for the upcoming release.
Titled Mass Effect Legendary Edition, the game will release on May 14 on PC via Origin and Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with forward compatibility on next-gen PlayStation 5 and the new Xbox consoles. Sadly, there is not yet a version for Nintendo Switch. However, it remains likely the Nintendo console will gain support in the future.
For those unaware, Mass Effect Legendary Edition is a remaster of the original trilogy. It comes complete with several enhancements, including beautiful 4K Ultra HD with HDR. Moreover, it includes over 40 pieces of DLC which of course features everything from story packs to weapons and armor. Despite these updates, it looks like multiplayer will be absent from the remaster.

Project director for the remaster, Mac Walters, shared his excitement for the release:
It’s been an incredible journey revisiting the stories, characters and iconic moments of the Mass Effect trilogy, enhancing the experience for modern platforms while staying true to the spirit of the original. Remastering a game, let alone three, is a huge undertaking as there’s over 100 hours of gameplay included, but we wanted to do this for our fans as well as a new generation of gamers looking to jump into the iconic story of Shepard.”
Mass Effect Legendary Edition is now available for pre-order, priced at $55, at Steam and Origin. Since Mass Effect 5 isn’t due to come out until at least next year, now seems the perfect time to play the Legendary Edition!
