Massachusetts Citizen Sounds Off Alarm as Wildfires Turn the Sky Ominous: ‘Mexican Filter Cranked to 100%’

We’ve seen that filter elsewhere

As many already know, the wildfires coming from Canada have been affecting several states and cities across the country, but the one that made it to social media today, thanks to a concerned citizen, was Massachusetts. The said user shared a couple of pictures from Boston’s sky, which painted a picture resembling something out of a post-apocalyptic landscape, or, as many jokingly put it, any show trying to depict Mexico with the iconic sepia filter.

I just want everyone under 25yo to know… this isn't normal at all.

The concerned Redditor from Boston, Massachusetts, shared many pictures of the city with a tone that doesn’t resemble the sky that many Bostonians see daily. OP also said in the title of its post that this isn’t normal, trying to raise awareness about what’s been happening with the wildfires and how they have been affecting the city.

The OP also mentioned how this landscape makes the city feel like Las Vegas in Blade Runner, but also focused on the fact that if this had happened before, it would have made it to the news. Yet, it seems that hasn’t been the case lately.

While the situation is clearly alarming, and it is something that is happening outside of Massachusetts, some people tried to look at this in a more lighthearted way. Some even started comparing to some movies, especially those that depict Mexico with a sepia tone, which many believe is how Boston feels in this exact moment.

Massachusetts Redditors Joke About Boston Looking Like Mexico in Movies

Despite OP’s efforts to raise awareness and make people see that the sky’s condition isn’t normal at all, Redditors instead joked about how Boston now has a sepia filter, similar to Mexico in films.

“Mexican filter cranked to 100%.“

On the other hand, some Redditors actually focused on the important matter and tried to spread information about the current wildfires, which have been affecting many citizens.

“I don’t think people realize the true scale of our forests. Hundreds and hundreds of km with nothing but trees.“

“Gaslighting on here is crazy. Yes, weather patterns play a part, yes, this has happened in the past, but the frequency and intensity have obviously increased.“

Even if some think it is great for people to take this sad news in a lighthearted way, some still believe people should focus on the actual problem that wildfires present, as they have been happening more often than before, and they could become a serious issue that many will have to deal with.
