A new documentary about Matthew Perry‘s tragic death has shed more light on what happened in his final days. Peacock’s Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy was released on Tuesday, February 25. The doc featured U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada, who led the investigation into the actor’s demise and those responsible.
According to the show, Perry received 27 doses of ketamine in the last three days before October 28, 2023. The dangerous levels of the powerful anesthetic caused him to die from the drug’s acute effects. The late Friends star had been vocal about his struggles with addiction and substance abuse. However, Estrada did not see him as a victim of his vices but a victim of exploitation.
The attorney blamed the five people linked to Perry’s death for exploiting his weakness for monetary gains. The list included Dr. Salvador Plasencia, alleged drug dealer Jasveen Sangha, aka the “Ketamine Queen,” and Perry’s live-in assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa. The latter has since pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine causing death, while the others were awaiting trial.
While addressing Perry’s death, Estrada stressed, “In the past, we used to call these things’ overdose deaths’ and do more blaming of the victim. We don’t do that anymore.” The attorney noted their focus was now on holding drug dealers and reckless prescribers accountable instead of victims, per TMZ.
Fans Are Outraged by Matthew Perry’s Final Ketamine Doses

The revelation of what happened in Perry’s final days naturally sparked social media outrage. Many aired their anger on X, calling out those responsible for giving the actor such lethal doses without caution. “27 shots of Ketamine??? WTF?! They were deff trying to kill this man!” Someone declared. Another echoed similar sentiments, writing, “Damn, they killed that man.”
A third wondered how the doctor “didn’t think that was a bit too much?” while a fourth noted the incident was “so sad.” The love for Perry continued with X users lamenting his “awful” ordeal while others bashed those who failed him. Fans’ pain and grief made waves last year following the results of Perry’s death investigation.
We covered the story last August, reporting that five people were arrested concerning the actor’s passing. Authorities uncovered an elaborate scheme to turn his addiction into profit. Despite knowing Perry was “spiraling out of control,” his former assistant allegedly administered at least five ketamine shots daily.
The news broke numerous hearts as many believed Perry would have lived if those around him had cared about his addiction. “This makes me so mad. We didn’t need to lose him, and I hope they spend the rest of their lives rotting,” a fan declared. Another shared the same view, writing, “This is really sad because he was sober and was doing well, but they stole it from him for their own advantage.”
Some of the people related to Matthew Perry’s death are scheduled for trial in March. Will they be severely punished, as fans hope?
