Lidia and Scott are one of the couples whose relationship will feature on 90 Day Fiancé: Love in Paradise season 3. 90 Day Fiancé: Love in Paradise premiered on April 17, 2023, and will continue airing on TLC at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Fans can relive the premiere episodes “I Like Big Boats,” and “I Cannot Lie” on Discovery Plus. While the show may maintain the theme from former seasons, the new season promises to be on a different level.
The trailer shows new faces — some are not so new to reality TV — but the cast members have different stories, and their love life will fuel intense dramas. The premiere scenes spotlight the cast members, including Jessica, who found love with bartender Juan, VaLentine and Carlos, who are ready to spend their happy-ever-after together; and Scott Wern, who is ready to give up his player lifestyle to be with Lidia Morel. But what exactly do we know about Lidia and Scott, who are from different worlds and rely on an interpreter to convey their messages to each other?
Who is Lidia Morel and Scott Wern?
Lidia Morel, a 56-year-old lawyer from the Dominican Republic, will hit it off with Scott Wern in 90 Day Fiancé: Love in Paradise season 3. However, unlike her partner, this is not her first time on a reality TV show. Lidia became a reality TV star in 2016 after appearing on The Family Chantel season 4. The series followed her son Pedro Jimeno’s relationship with his ex-wife Chantell Everett.
The legal practitioner who studied at Universidad Tecnológica de Santiago starred on the show as a lawyer and a mom to her son, Pedro. Lidia tried to mediate an issue between her son and his former wife, Chantell, on screen. Nonetheless, Lidia did more harm than good to her son’s relationship. Lidia ended her stint on the show as the villain.
However, Lidia’s appearance on 90 Day Fiancé: Love in Paradise will focus on her journey to find true love with Scott, an American respiratory therapist. Scott’s job as a respiratory therapist allows him to take doctor directives and treat various patients with respiratory issues. He also passed down his line of work to his two sons, as his Instagram account shows his kids are respiratory therapists. Apart from his career in the medical field, Scott is always busy working out. He is a bodybuilder and has quite the physique to show for his efforts.
Lidia and Scott Have Hurdles To Overcome In 90 Day Fiancé: Love in Paradise
Although Lidia and Scott have known each other for a year before appearing on the show, their romance gets fresh challenges in 90 Day Fiancé: Love in Paradise season 3. The duo met online, and it was not until they had formed a bond that Scott decided to travel to the Dominican Republic to see Lidia. In the season trailer, Lidia noted:
“I am a 56-year-old woman who’s only had one relationship. I hope Scott is worthy. Because I didn’t wait 12 years of my life for a tiny thing.”
Truly, Lidia has only had one relationship with her ex, Pedro Jimeno Sr., which produced two children —a son, Pedro, and a daughter, Nicole. While Lidia severed contact with her former partner, she still shares a close relationship with her kids and consults her daughter over her romance with Scott. Besides the blossoming relationship between Lidia and Scott, the trailer also teases tension between the two. In one scene, Scott complained to Lidia about relying on a translator for better communication.
However, Lidia’s daughter Nicole immediately slammed Scott and called him a liar who knew that her mother did not speak English before visiting the Dominican Republic. Nicole then accused Scott of making her mom look like a clown. Fortunately, Scott has also been waiting to have lots of fun with his beau. So, for now, viewers would have to stay glued to the show to see how Lidia and Scott scaled through the hurdles in their romance and whether or not Nicole would accept her mom’s lover.
