Capcom has confirmed that Mega Man 11 will release in October as part of the iconic hero’sย 30th-anniversaryย celebration. Combining the series’ much loved side-scrolling gameplay with all new features and a fresh new look, the latest entry in the Blue Bomberโ€™s franchise will be available on October 2, 2018, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and on Windows PC.

Mega Man 11 Pre-order Trailer - Nintendo Switch

“In the events ofย Mega Man 11, long-time mustachioed series villain Dr. Wily is back to his mischievous ways and has had a true flash of evil genius, deciding to invest in an ambitious idea from his time at Robot University where he studied alongside Dr. Light, Mega Manโ€™s benevolent creator. Dr. Light, who also recalls this inventive idea, decides to upgrade Mega Man with this powerful prototype known as the Double Gear system, installing it into his circuits and expanding his abilities for the greatest fight yet for everlasting peace as they take on the evil attempts of Dr. Wily to conquer the world.”

So the new Double Gear system is the highlight of this news. The system provides a unique new twist on the series’ legendary platforming action. Offering new options to enhance both Mega Manโ€™s speed and power on the fly. Capcom’s official press release provided us with the following information on the new mechanics.

  • Speed Gearย – Introduces the ability to slow the flow of time, a useful tool for many situations such as navigating tricky platforming sections or avoiding fast-moving enemies or obstacles.
  • Power Gearย – Allows players to charge the Mega Buster to a new level, and weapon-based abilities become even more robust.
  • Double Gearย – When at critical health, Mega Man will gain access to a hidden ability to activate both gears simultaneously, unleashing maximum power and allowing for deft maneuvers in the direst situations.

The trailer also gave us a look at two of the new robot masters, Block Man and Fuse Man. Both look to be challenging new additionsย to Mega Man’sย rogues’ย gallery. So far the Mega Man 11 is looking to be a fantasticย new entry in one of the greatest platformer series of all time. It would seem Capcom is listening to its fans and giving them something they can truly enjoy. We will have to wait until October to see if it lives up to the hype. In the meantime, fans can check outย Megaย Man Legacy Collection 1 + 2 which released on the Nintendo Switch earlier this month. That’s not all we have to look forward too, asย Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 +ย 2,ย  is releasing on July 24, 2018,ย for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC. We will bring you more Mega Man news as it becomes available.
