Meghan Markle has caused quite a stir by being selected as one of the speakers for Fortune’s Most Powerful Women. But it’s not just her unexpected appearance that has upset Royal Family fans, but what she’s said during her panel. From comments about comparing her and Prince Harry to the Obamas to forgetting her own brand’s first product launch, she’s giving the media quite a plate of controversial statements to work with. She even admitted to having “no plan” after separating from the Palace with Harry and was focused on “nesting and healing.”
However, people were quick to point out that Meghan Markle most certainly had ideas up her sleeve after marrying into the Royal Family, then cutting ties. “It’s actually scary how much she lies,” remarks a Redditor. “They were documented to have meetings with Quibi back in 2019. So, ‘no plan’ = ditch the royal family for Hollywood!” Another added that “They had Spotify and Netflix deals already signed before they left and probably the book deal too.” A third chimed in, saying, “lol the SussexRoyal website was ready for launch when the queen shut it down.”
Meghan Markle’s comment about “nesting and healing” also felt controversial to many Sussex followers. One pointed out how she had a $40M wedding and was given a $1.5 wardrobe while doing 72 royal engagements, which is relatively low compared to the average of a member of the Royal Family. Patricia Treble’s WRITE ROYALTY on Substack claims that most royals have upwards of 100+ engagements a year, with King Charles holding the highest record. Of course, Kate Middleton has done only a few recently, but she was battling cancer last year, so it’s understandable.
In other words, there was no trauma to ‘heal’ from, as people just believe Meghan is attempting to farm sympathy from fans. “The trauma of pantyhose and having full time staff is a lot, y’all,” jokes one commenter. “Her real trauma is she was a bully and got called out,” laughs a second. As for her claim of “no plans,” As Ever has seemingly been a process of throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks, as many put it. So that comment might have been something that’s actually ongoing since her and Harry’s departure from the UK.
Prince Harry hasn’t had much success by playing things by ear, either, with his recent trip to the UK being rather unsuccessful, based on his interaction with his father, King Charles. Meghan Markle’s been busy as of late herself, with the trip to Paris and DC for Fortune’s Most Powerful Women event. However, it was exposed that she wasn’t invited to this year’s Paris Fashion Week but had to ask to attend. So many are doubting that she got on Fortune’s show without bribery or begging as well.
