Meghan Markle is once again the target of online criticism after a video of her eating a burger went viral, sparking a flood of mocking comments across social media. The clip, which shows the Duchess of Sussex enjoying a meal with a pint of beer at an outdoor restaurant, quickly made its way around X (formerly Twitter), where users harshly picked apart her eating style. The video was captioned, “I’ve seen farm animals with better eating skills and etiquette than Meghan Markle.”
One viral post sneered, “It’s a hamburger Meghan, not a d-ck, no need to shove it all in at once,” while another piled on with, “We know you do, Meg.” The mocking tone quickly spread, turning the lighthearted moment into the internet’s latest reason to drag Markle.
The comments didn’t stop there. Some users claimed Markle was trying too hard to appear “relatable,” with one writing, “Apparently, going by Neil Sean, Meghan came up with the idea of eating a burger from the video of Prince William and Prince George eating pizza at the soccer game. She believed it would be relatable.”
Others mocked her mannerisms, pointing to her shoulder movements in the clip, “What’s with this new shoulder pumping she’s doing now? Trying to be hip, I guess!” Another critic took aim at her facial expressions, joking, “She sticks her tongue out when she eats just like a lizard. That’s bizarre.”
Meghan Markle Continues To Get Mocked Online
The burger video is just the latest example of Meghan Markle becoming a lightning rod for criticism. Since stepping into the royal spotlight in 2016, the Duchess of Sussex has faced relentless backlash from both the press and online commentators.
After her 2018 marriage to Prince Harry, Meghan was quickly accused by British tabloids of breaking with royal tradition, whether it was her wardrobe choices, her approach to public engagements, or her openness about issues like mental health. The scrutiny intensified in 2020, when Meghan and Harry stepped back from their royal duties in what became known as “Megxit.” Critics accused the couple of abandoning their responsibilities while still capitalizing on their royal titles.

Meghan’s 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey added more fuel to the fire. While many praised her for candidly discussing racism within the royal institution and her struggles with suicidal thoughts, detractors accused her of exaggerating or tarnishing the monarchy’s image. Since then, every public move, from podcasting ventures and Netflix documentaries to paparazzi sightings, has sparked polarized reactions.
