Melania Trump is receiving heat for her outfit at the National Governors Association Evening Dinner and Reception. Since becoming First Lady for the second time, Melania has switched up her fashion game, but it seems fans aren’t loving it.
Over the weekend, Melania made quite a fashion statement as she and President Donald Trump hosted the nation’s governors at the White House. The former model showed up in a power suit, rocking a tailored menswear-inspired Ralph Lauren tuxedo with black pointed-toe six-inch stiletto pumps from Christian Louboutin. Mrs. Trump wore a sharp white shirt underneath, with the first two buttons popped open. She styled her honey-blonde hair into a side part and rocked subtle smokey eyes. Mr. President certainly complimented his wife, wearing a tuxedo of his own with a bow tie and shiny patent leather loafers.
In an unusual move, Melania and Donald proved to be a united front. The first couple walked into the dinner holding hands — something which rarely happens — and Melania wore a big smile — another rare occurrence. President Trump seemed to be over the moon about his wife’s presence. During his address, he showered her with praises for the success of the event, saying:
“She worked very hard on making sure that everything was beautiful. And she’s very good at that.”
CNN reports that the National Governors Association Evening Dinner and Reception marks Melania’s return to the White House after a four-week absence. Close Washington sources say her last active official presence was on January 24, when she joined her husband to visit natural disaster-ravaged North Carolina and California days after his inauguration.
Melania Trump’s Power Suit Slammed By Angry Fans

The FLOTUS proudly posted photos from the reception on Instagram. “It was an honor to host our distinguished governors at the White House. Together, we embraced a moment of unity, forging a path toward a brighter future for all,” she captioned it.
Unfortunately, her outfit wasn’t a favorite among some citizens, who thought a dress was more appropriate.
“She wore pants to a formal dinner?” She has no class!” slammed one user.
“Let me just say that if Jill Biden wore a pantsuit, the Maggots would be in an uproar,” a second comment read.
Another fan described her suit as a “full dude attire,” while a fourth user agreed, asking, “Why is @melaniatrump dressed like a dude?“
Melania has been on a journey to defer tradition with her outfits since her husband’s return to the White. For her first official visit as the 47th First Lady, the Slovenia native kept it super casual in an army-green puffer jacket, black pants, and matching combat boots. She accessorized with a pair of black-and-gold aviator sunglasses and a black beanie. The unconventional choice sparked backlash for being ill-suited to the occasion.
Melania Trump has been vocal about doing her second stint as First Lady on her terms, and it seems she is starting with her fashion.
