Rabbit Hole star Meta Golding has officially boarded Netflix‘s Ransom Canyon. Golding, who has also starred in Empire, is the latest name to join the western family drama that already stars Josh Duhamel, Minka Kelly, and Kate Burton, among other names. The series was created, written, and will be directed by April Blair based on Jodi Thomas’s book series of the same name. Ransom Canyon will follow a complicated three-way feud among the ranching families of Texas Hill Country, and Meta Golding‘s new character is bound to make a splash.
‘Rabbit Hole’ Alum Meta Golding Joins ‘Ransom Canyon’ as Davis’ Ex-Wife
Ransom Canyon will be a ten-episode series following the families running three Texas ranches: Fuller Ranch, run by ex-Army veteran Cap (James Brolin); the Double K Ranch, where teenager Lucas Russell (Garrett Wareing) is struggling to find his feet; and the Bar W Ranch. Eoin Macken (La Brea) stars as Davis Collins, the forward-thinking, Ivy League-educated owner of the modern Bar W Ranch who’s looking to claim the aquifer running under Ransom Canyon.
Meta Golding will be joining Ransom Canyon as Davis’s ex-wife Paula Jo, who rolls into town in a bright red Porsche and matching high heels. She determined to make waves, and that seems like a forgone conclusion when you consider how alien her glamorous lifestyle must seem. Golding has played high-rollers before, having starred as Teri Brooks-Lyon on Empire. Some of her other roles include Hailey Winton in the Paramount+ spy drama Rabbit Hole, Rosa Parks in Behind the Movement, Tanya in Stalker, and Enobaria in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Mockingjay Part 2.
Ransom Canyon doesn’t currently have a release date, but the series is reportedly in production with Netflix. Amanda Marsalis, known for her work on The Umbrella Academy and Ozark, will direct the first two episodes in the series.
