A political influencer named Steven Crowder sparked a lot of debate after he decided to head to Muslim-owned bakeries in Dearborn, Michigan, and ask them to make a gay wedding cake for him. “What do you think would happen if we went into a Muslim bakery and asked for a gay wedding cake? No need to wonder. We did it for you,” he said at the beginning of the video.
He was seen driving in an area that had several Muslim bakeries before entering one of them. While there, he was telling a female worker there, who was in a hijab, that it was important to get the picture and writing correctly. He then showed the picture he was using, which was one of him and another man in suits and with the LGBTQ+ flag around them. The influencer was basically saying the same thing to every Muslim bakery he entered. A male worker at another bakery immediately told him no and recommended that he go to Kroger instead.
At another bakery, yet another worker told him to go to a different place that was across the street from them. On the other hand, the female worker listened to him as he said that he wanted the cake to have on it “Ben and Steven forever.” The video then showed one of the previous workers as the influencer argued that everyone was sending him somewhere else. That was when the worker told him, “No, I don’t want it.” Crowder then suggested that they remove the picture and only keep the names. At first, the worker agreed. He refused again once Crowder suggested adding a picture of both of his and his “partner’s” hands. He definitely didn’t get a lot of acceptance.
People Reacting to the Michigan Influencer’s Video About Muslim Bakeries
The fact that a lot of Muslim bakeries refused to make a gay wedding cake for the Michigan influencer sparked a debate on whether they had a right to do so or not. For example, one person wrote, “This only shows that leftists only target Christians, if they had targeted Muslims with vexatious lawsuits, they’ll be called racist and islamophobic for targeting muslims.” Another person said, “Exactly. This is why we fight for religious liberty for ALL Americans — not just the ones the Left approves of. When Muslims say no, the outrage machine disappears. Hypocrisy level: expert. #MAGA.”
Some people tried to defend the Muslim bakeries as one person said, “All I see is that none of them said no , and the guy who asked you to check kroger is because its not that simple to create picture on cake ! I mean its not something all bakeries equipped to do!” This made another person disagree and point out “You didn’t watch the video then because he said OK even if you can’t do the picture can you still do this this and this and they said no.” More people attacked the bakeries as someone else said, “Two tiered justice is not justice. He needs to take the bakers to court for decades and destroy their businesses. That is what would happen if they are Christian, so why is this different?” This is definitely a controversial topic.
