A man in Bay City, Michigan, had to install a significantly sized tarp over his fence in order to protect his and his family’s privacy. How so? His neighbor, a woman with whom he has feuded for a bit, installed cameras that directly point toward his backyard.
Austin, who goes by mycrazyneighborandi and Boo Ain’t Worried, shared the camera situation online. Although he posts a variety of content online, his main focus for the past few months has been his feud with Sharon, his neighbor. The clip attached above was part of the saga, going viral within a few days. It garnered 969,000 views, 69,900 likes, and more than 2,300 comments.
The Michigan man recorded the massive blue tarp he had to install over a privacy fence that was supposed to put an end to the constant back-and-forth with Sharon. According to Austin, Sharon had installed pan-and-tilt cameras on his house.
“Not only one or two, but four. And last night, I came outside, and they were all lit up, watching us facing my back door. It’s weird. […] This is the extent that we’re gonna have to go to,” Austin said. “[…] Let the games begin.”
Austin showed the cameras his neighbor installed. In a follow-up, he made sure to focus on the other ones installed at the front of the house. He said, “And if you can’t tell, they’re directly facing my house. It’s weird. It’s really, really weird.”
The sheer number of videos, some of which include police speaking to both Sharon and Austin, makes it difficult to pinpoint exactly the moment when things went sour between them. Still, it appears that the major point of contention was Sharon’s dog, which, according to Austin, harassed him and barked aggressively at him.
Reactions
The string of videos sparked a mixed response amongst viewers, with some calling the cameras a clear breach of privacy. One said, “Just point a laser at the camera.” Another one commented, “I will never understand people who do stuff like this.”
Others, meanwhile, believed that Austin was the one in the wrong. One wrote, “He is harassing her relentlessly. Seriously. Just take a look. It’s disgusting.” Some even argued that Sharon wasn’t doing anything wrong, with one saying, “It’s not crazy to have cameras.”
By the looks of it, this feud, which was declared over in early October, is far from done.
