A Pennsylvania woman is baffled over her couch mysteriously disappearing from her fourth-floor balcony. It was first noticed missing by her boyfriend, who called to ask, “Do you know where our outdoor couch went?” At first, Jessica Massey believed he was trying to prank her, only to discover he genuinely had no idea what happened to it. Her perplexing video has 1.7 million views, over 128,000 likes, and over 1,000 comments.
Jessica is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and lives in an apartment building where the only way to reach the balcony is through either their neighbor’s adjacent one or by scaling down from the roof. She started the search by asking her neighbors if they had seen it. They hadn’t. She’s initially skeptical of wind being the culprit, given the couch was 60 lbs. Jessica then asks the upstairs neighbor, and that’s when the mystery deepens. Here’s what the neighbor said: “She tells us that she saw the couch yesterday on the street and then later in the day she saw it in the alley.”
Somehow the couch “had to go over this massive wall, down all the way, and landed right down here.” Noticing that the neighbors across the street have a Ring camera, Jessica wrote them a letter asking them if they saw what happened. They responded that they didn’t see how it got on the street, but they saw the couch “wrapped up.” The search expanded to other security cameras from neighboring buildings. During this search, Jessica claims a homeless man approached them, asking, “Oh, the tan couch? The one on the street yesterday?” They’re currently waiting on the landlord to get back to them with possible footage. She states, “We have three people who have confirmed that they have seen the couch outside.”
People Are Here For Pennsylvania ‘Couchgate’
People have dubbed the situation as ‘couchgate’ and are here for the entertainment. Some commenters are even making jokes. One says, “Guys, please check in on your couches.” Another says, “This whole thing is couched in mystery.” A third person is not surprised given the city Jessica lives in: “This is the most Philly thing in the world, I’m sat.”
Meanwhile, others desperately want to know what happened and are treating ‘couchgate’ like their new favorite mystery show. One commenter says, “Couchgate is something I can get on board with. Let me know what happens, babe.” However, some theorize a more logical explanation: “Your neighbors got drunk and threw it over.” Another agrees, “The only thing that makes sense is that your neighbors decided to throw it over.”
In a recent update, Jessica still hasn’t located the couch. However, she discovered that the day it went missing, there were severe winds, leading her to believe that the wind carried it over the edge.
