Michigan Mom Uses Dark Humor to Cope With Baby Daddy’s Death, ‘The State’s Money Helped More Than He Did’

Honestly, good for her and her child

The world is not lacking absent mothers, but we see more and more cases of absentee fathers every day. Behind them stand powerhouse mothers who hold it together and work two times as diligently to give their children everything. One Michigan woman on TikTok was apparently fed up with her baby daddy’s lack of help. As a result, she took to social media to complain about it… after he died.

In the TikTok video (posted by @ashleykay5587), it’s immediately apparent the father of her child didn’t do much in the way of helping. The caption reads: “whoever cracked my babydaddy in 2017 before he d*ed, thank you, child support payments haven’t been late ever since” with two laughing emojis. She does a little dance as music plays in the background. While Ashley’s video may seem harsh, consider this: How harsh is it to leave a woman high and dry with very little to support the child you helped conceive?

sorry for the dark humor y’all 😅 I blame our child🤣😅

While Ashley received the usual comments by people saying things like, “I hate it here” others completely understood the trauma. One commenter shared their own similar story, “I remembered in grade school a girls dad passing and her mom telling my mom the states money helped more than he did.”

Another explained, “Accurate af. He had no contact 4 years prior to his death. Worked under the table to avoid paying child support. Survivor benefits is the best thing he ever did for my son.” To go out of your way to be paid under the table, just to avoid child support is wild. Men are not sending their best.

We have systems in place to ensure children are raised by both parents. However, until you’ve gone through it, very few people understand how difficult it is when one parent refuses to participate. Some parents will go as far as to just take the jail time instead of working and paying, and this becomes an endless cycle.

I’m sure Ashley isn’t actually overjoyed that things came to this and the father of her child is now deceased. But you have to consider just how difficult things are for some mothers in America. Luckily for Ashley, she’s married, seems to love every aspect of her life, including her child from a previous relationship.
