As fans eagerly await Mike Tyson’s return to the boxing ring, there has been a lot of hype about the 57-year-old and his skills. He will take on Jake Paul on July 20, 2024, at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and when a video of his training was shared last week, to say fans were impressed would be an understatement. More recently, Tyson sat down for a chat with Nick Kyrgios for an episode of the GOOD TROUBLE podcast. In it, he confessed he is a “glutton for punishment.”
Mike Tyson Talks About Fighting
Mike Tyson’s comments on fighting and his never-give-up approach are inspiring. “I’m a glutton for pain, but I stopped,” he said (although it is not immediately clear what he is referring to). “I couldn’t sign anymore checks, so. What got me into that stuff was self-hate, not loving myself and taking care of myself.”
The clip also includes powerful statements like, “No one person is an island. In order to succeed, you have to have help. You have to have goals. Without goals, who are we?” Later in the video, he also says, “That’s what makes people champions. Not that they win, but that they lose and don’t get discouraged. Never get discouraged and never give up.” Tyson knows all about winning and is one of the most celebrated heavyweight boxers of all time.
Kyrgios informed fans this is an interview they do not want to miss. “We talked about Mike’s hard-earned life lessons, and he’s got a lot to share. You really don’t want to miss any of it,” he wrote in the caption of the post.
Fans React To Mike Tyson’s Fighting Comments
Mike Tyson is celebrated for his boxing skills, but people think he has so much more to offer than his fighting. “Tyson, I could listen to him all day; he’s a deep thinker,” one fan wrote. “Champ in and out of the ring,” another shared. People are interested in what he has to say, and the comment section clearly reflects that. “Oh my, I’ve been waiting for this one,” a comment reads.
Fans have also weighed in on the upcoming fight against Jake Paul, and the reaction is mixed. Some are convinced Tyson will emerge victorious despite being a lot older than his competitor. Others feel the match will be Paul’s. “He’s gonna get killed in that fight against that guy Jake Paul (of course if the fight is real),” a comment reads.
Regardless of the outcome, it seems there will be a lot of people watching. After all, Mike Tyson is a boxing legend.
