The Minecraft 1.20 update will introduce new mobs, blocks, and biome. Players can access the update through the Minecraft Java Snapshot or Bedrock Beta. The two new mobs are the Sniffer and the Camel. New blocks will also be added to the game, including hanging signs, bamboo wood sets, and bookshelves.
Releasing on June 7, 2023, Minecraft 1.20 update adds a new biome known as the Cherry Blossom biome. As the name suggests, this biome is characterized by its stunning cherry blossom trees with iconic pink leaves. Additionally, the flowers found in this biome are also pink. While there are no exclusive mobs in this biome, early screenshots suggest that rabbits and bees will be prevalent. The new cherry wood set will also be introduced, featuring light pink blocks and items.
The Sniffer is a cute mob that can be used to farm unique seeds and bring new flowers and possibly crops to the game. The Camel is another new mob that will be added in Minecraft 1.20. It is a rideable mob that can carry multiple players, jump over ravines, and breed and protect players from hostile mobs.
After years of anticipation, the Minecraft team is finally adding archaeology features to the game. Players can search for suspicious sand blocks around the world that, when dusted, reveal pottery shards. These shards can be combined to create ancient pots, each with a unique design reflecting something from Minecraft.
The archaeology update also includes a new “brush” tool for dusting. While there are currently four unique pot designs, more are expected to be added as the release date approaches. Players will find suspicious sand blocks around existing desert temples and have to locate individual blocks to begin the dusting process.
Thanks to the new hanging signs feature, players will no longer have to worry about finding the right place to put their signs. Signs can be hung on any block, including the sides and bottoms of blocks. Players can create decorative items by putting signs under signs, creating a wind chime-like structure.
Minecraft 1.20 will also introduce a new family of bamboo wood, including planks, blocks, and more. This wood set will offer exclusive blocks, such as the decorative bamboo mosaic blocks that cannot be crafted with other types of wood. Players will also be able to craft rafts using bamboo wood, which works similarly to boats in Minecraft but has a more open appearance.
Lastly, the update will bring a new chiseled bookshelf that allows players to store both regular and enchanted books. Each storage slot on the bookshelf emits a different strength of Redstone signal, which can be used to create secret doorways and other gadgets.
