Sprinkled throughout Minecraft is a series of tasks that you can unlock called Advancements which are similar to achievements but these are unique to Minecraft itself and we’re here to guide you on one of those, called “Hidden in the Depths,” an achievement that has you seeking one of the more valuable resources in the game.
How to Complete the Hidden in the Depths Advancement
All you need to do to complete this advancement is to have Ancient Debris in your inventory but, of course, this sounds deceptively easier to do than it actually is. In order to get yourself some, you’re going to want to head to the Nether and bring with you either a netherite or diamond pickaxe. It spawns in the form of mineral veins and starts to generate randomly from levels 8-22 but levels start increasing as you get further down, all the way to level 119. Usually, Y-Level 15 spawns the most Ancient Debris. Ancient Debris almost never spawns while exposed to air so you’ll have to likely do quite a bit of digging no matter what happens. The only times you may find it exposed to air is kicking around on top of smaller pockets of lava and, even then, it’s not very common that this happens.
Other Minecraft Guides
Regardless of this advancement, you’re going to want to familiarize yourself with Ancient Debris really quickly as it is one of the main sources of netherite scraps and, therefore, one of the only efficient ways to make netherite ingots. Seeing as netherite is one of the more valuable resources in the game as a strong material, it’s really important to know how to stock up as netherite upgrades, essentially, all of your equipment and even the pickaxe you use to mine for more netherite so while this Advancement may get you started you’re not going to want to stop there.
