While a Crafting Table is needed for general projects, it takes a Smithing Table to create armor trims. A Smithing Table is also the only way to upgrade Diamond Armor with Netherite. Whether you’re diving into PvP, want to look your best at any FPS, or just fancy yourself a quality craftsperson, a Smithing Table is the way to go in Minecraft. Fortunately, you can construct one using a few early-game ingredients, so you won’t have to brave too many dark nights without some fancy armor. Here’s how to craft a Smithing Table and take your defensive game to the next level in Minecraft.
Minecraft: How to Craft a Smithing Table
(Updated on July 29th, 2024 – Updated images and crafting explanation)
Netherite gear is coveted for its strength, but not just anyone can craft it. For that, you’ll need a Smithing Table. You can find these in villages, but depending upon random NPC spawns for your crafting needs isn’t exactly ideal. Thankfully, it’s not difficult to craft your own. Here’s what you need to do:
- Acquire 4 Planks of wood (any type)
- Acquire 2 Iron Ingots
- Use a Crafting Table
- Place the Iron Ingots side by side at the top of the crafting grid
- Place the Planks below them
- Click on the Smithing Table to finish crafting it
You don’t need to be picky about your Planks when you craft a Smithing Table in Minecraft, since every wood type works. As long as they’re laid out correctly (pictured above), you’ll be able to craft the table. With this new crafting station, it won’t be long before you have more items than you know what to do with. That’s never a bad thing when you’re one runaway Creeper away from losing it all.
