The Soul Torch is a crafted light source in Minecraft that emits a blue flame instead of the yellowish-orange fire seen on a standard Torch. Not only do the colors differ between these Torches, but the light level cast by these non-solid blocks also are not the same. The regular Torch emits a light level of 14, creating a heat aura capable of melting nearby snow and ice. On the other hand, the Soul Torch features a light level of 10 and is noticeably darker when placed beside its standard variant. So naturally, crafting and using Soul Torches to light one’s home is far from practical in Minecraft.

Players will need three resources to craft a Soul Torch in Minecraft: Coal, a Stick, and Soul Sand. Coal is a common material found within mines and underground caves, and Sticks are extremely easy to obtain from logging trees.
