A video from Mankato, Minnesota, is stirring up debate after a man returned to his car to find a woman, whom we’ll obviously dub a “Karen,” accusing him of damaging her vehicle. The clip shows the woman standing with a police officer, claiming she saw the man swing his car door near her vehicle and threatening to file a report.

But there was no damage, and no evidence that the man had done anything wrong. When he calmly asked where the damage was and why she thought it could be his fault, the Karen admitted there was nothing but insisted she had been worried.

Many viewers on Reddit quickly pointed out the racial undertones, with one user bluntly stating, “Man committed the audacious crime of existing while black.” Others criticized the officer for appearing overly eager to entertain a claim without proof. “You’re being ridiculous,” the officer tells the man in the video, highlighting the absurdity once the Karen finally acknowledged there was no damage.

The clip ends with the officer returning to his department while the man films, underscoring the ridiculousness of the situation. Reddit commenters had no shortage of reactions, from criticizing the officer’s judgment to debating the dynamics of privilege and race in such encounters.

“This behavior is why situations escalate,” one user wrote, while another summed up the mood perfectly: “We’re not doing this…Karen, you’re the one that started it.”

When you see a video like this, it certainly makes you ponder issues like white privilege, false claims, and how law enforcement responds to minor disputes, particularly in situations involving people of color.
