Minnesota Man Recounts Begging For Water and Bathroom While Detained By ICE: ‘I could hear screaming’

No one deserves that

A teacher in Illinois was given an opportunity to share his experience with ICE, and from the positioned of someone personally detained. The 50501 Minnesota posted the video on TikTok, where it gained traction because of the teacher’s openness about what the detention centers are like on the inside.

Originally detained in January 2026, Brandon Siguenza was arrested by ICE while legally observing ICE in Minneapolis (according to Newsweek). He has now spoken further about the incident with 50501 Minnesota. A member of the organization asked Brandon about the conditions of the Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building. “I could hear screaming almost the whole time,” Brandon says to the interviewer. This was after he’d been in a cell for eight hours.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like inside the Whipple Detention Center? Well, Brandon Siguenza explains his experience being detained there (and it’s really gross). #iceoutmn #MN50501 #havenwatch

It seems only natural that a prisoner would like to use the bathroom when they need to. Not so, according to Brandon. He says if they wanted water or needed to use the restroom, he had to “beg” DHS agents. In order to do that, he had to press his face against the glass just to see the shadow of a person.

Brandon also spoke of his cellmate and others being starved. When Brandon brought this up with a DHS agent, he claims the agent told him, “You and everyone else,” before ignoring him further.

It was when Brandon finally got to use the bathroom that he saw how “packed” the other cells were, too. Packed enough that there was “wasn’t room to sit.” According to him, it was “all Hispanic men with some exceptions.” The few women who were there had to use the indoor bathroom with only a barrier covering their lower half. He states DHS agents were even laughing, watching.

When interrogated, Brandon reiterated once again the claim DHS agents would offer citizenship to his family or money “in exchange for the names of protest organizers” or “undocumented people.”

How People Online Are Reacting to 50501 Minnesota’s Interview

People online expressed their gratitude to Brandon for speaking up about his experience of being detained. Not to mention horrified that he’d be treated. Some even suggested Brandon seek legal action. “There is no excuse for treating people this way,” a TikTok user wrote, which garnered hundreds of Likes.

One of the top comments read, “Please testify before congress. This needs to be documented.” However, people argued in the comments that Congress wouldn’t do anything and are too busy enjoying “vacation.”

“I wish I could give him a hug,” another commenter wrote, while others thanked Brandon for being open about details. “I can’t imagine what it would be like to be there for months,” wrote one viewer. And it’s important that he does; others have expressed similar miserable conditions, such as one woman from California.

Given the numerous anti-ICE comments, it’s clear this post gained attention by being yet another example of ICE mistreating others. People were overwhelmingly sympathetic to Brandon.
