A Texas school lockdown is now being considered a hoax, after a fight was reported to the local authorities. One of the teachers has been accused of injuring herself. The lockdown occurred at Splendora High School in Splendora, Texas. This began at 8:45 a.m. on March 9. The incident began when a fight was reported to the authorities, and a teacher activated a panic alarm. It is unclear whether this is the same group of teachers now facing charges. The video has been viewed by thousands within an hour of posting.

When speaking to the news, the sheriff states that three resources were immediately on the scene and that the Texas school was placed on lockdown, pending further investigation. He states that “almost 100 law enforcement officers and personnel responded.” This included those from the local Montgomery County and surrounding areas, while the Criminal Investigation Division was on scene “within thirty minutes.” Part of the investigation included interviewing witnesses and reviewing video surveillance footage.

The Texas sheriff reports that “there was no assault on a teacher that was committed by a student.” The injuries found on the teacher are being considered “self-inflicted.” The sheriff explains that the “evidence supports that this was a hoax.” The teacher has been identified as Nicole Truelove, and she is being charged with “filing a false report and felony tampering with evidence.” She has been a teacher at the school for a year. He assures that, at this time, there is no threat to the community and that they take all law enforcement matters seriously, especially when schools are involved. He states, “We hold adults just as much as we hold children responsible for calling in fake threats.”

Texas Students Live Chat During Lockdown

During the lockdown, several Texas students joined a live chat in the comments of a TikTok news update. One student claims, “I been in this restroom for 3 hours… never skipping again.” Another says, “We’ve been in the same class for 3 hours.” Meanwhile, several want to go home, with one insisting, “thankfully I skipped today.” Another just wants to go to the bathroom, “I’m in here, and I need to peeeee.” The incident has left some feeling rattled, such as a Freshman who says, “It is the most terrifying thing I [have] ever expected, and it happened today while I was in history.”

The video is getting attention because of the tense climate and sensitive subject matter regarding schools, due to so many shootings and lockdown drills. This incident, being a hoax, has unnecessarily traumatized students and stressed out parents. Several in the comments feel the school needs to do better background checks on teachers.

It is unclear what motivated the false report to the police or whether the teacher has been fired.
