Lawyers and prosecutors are known to be some of the most stern and rigid professionals in America, which is why one attorney’s office from Mississippi has raised eyebrows for its method of presenting convicted individuals. The office’s online page has opted to sprinkle some creativity and wackiness when announcing alleged criminals, leading to some hilarious reactions and serious debates about professionalism.
DeSoto County District Attorney’s Office is the institution in question, and throughout 2026, they have been trending wildly because they keep presenting the individuals they have convicted using cheerful and even comedic graphics, often with a tone of mockery. Their most popular post dates back to June 5, when they created a Kindergarten-themed image of a Mississippi shooter sentenced to 40 years in prison. The post has since gained nearly 33,000 likes on Facebook.
Other similar posts include a recent GTA 6-style warning against potential lawbreakers and a humorous smartphone screen jab at a sex offender. It’s not clear how long the DeSoto County District Attorney’s Office has been doing this, but one of their earliest popular attempts dates back to December 2025, when they added some Christmas and Santa-themed graphical ornaments to their convictions for the week.
Other posts include some kind of promotion/warning for the office’s accolades, with one poster even likening District Attorney Matthew Barton to a Jedi from Star Wars, presumably for his efforts in bringing balance to the law, at least in DeSoto County. The posts have since brought the office into the spotlight and drawn social media attention, and it appears they’re not about to stop soon.
People Online Found It Funny but Unprofessional
Some of the initial reactions to the attorney’s office were pure bewilderment, followed by plenty of laughing emoji reactions on Facebook. Most of the comments found the office’s creativity fun, especially for something as serious as prosecution, with one Facebook user saying, “Oh yall are playin in that office.” Another commenter stated, “Really leaning into the whole school to prison pipe line thing,” regarding the Kindergarten-themed design for the Mississippi shooter who murdered people.
However, not everyone was amused. Over on X, plenty of people have caught wind of what the attorney’s office was doing and have criticized them. “It’s depraved for an institution to do this. How do they repair the harm if they happen to be wrong? They can’t. What if the victims want the crimes to be taken seriously? Too bad for them. The prosecutor’s office is a mad dog,” rants an X commenter. It’s not clear whether the District Attorney himself authorized these visuals directly or not.
“Nah this childish asf…they really allow this typa unprofessionalism?” questions another commenter. Others believed that the gesture might actually help people from committing crimes again, or perhaps even dissuade potential criminals. “Honestly if being publicly shamed keeps people from committing crimes I’m all for it,” according to one commenter, though another replied to him with, “It sounds good but it hasn’t done anything back then it won’t do anything now.”
