A Mississippi couple posted a series of voice recordings between them and their landlord, in which use of their electricity and water became a topic of discussion. The problem came to its breaking point when a construction crew, sent by their landlord, had wanted access to both resources.

TikTok use DJPressure601, DJ, posted multiple recordings he and his wife, Felicia, had with their landlord, as well as a clip of the police at their home, which the couple called. A new home was being built next door, at the landlord’s expense. However, when it came to supplying water and electricity, the construction crew turned to DJ.

The landlord taught because we work that we wouldnt catch it. Now, at first he said he didnt give them permission them he said he forgot to mention it to us.. first off get yo own sh*t and 2nd we didnt give u permission and 3rd thats a crime Mark Evaes and Brandon Construction Company in Mississippi then gone try to talk to us like they can bully someone

The landlord tries to explain that the handymen were supposed to make a “reasonable offer” to use DJ’s utilities. He then claimed DJ and Felicia accepted the “$400” that was offered. They outright deny that claim, saying “That’s not what happened.”

Felicia tells her landlord they typically use 1,300 to 1,500 kilowatts. However, with the construction company using their electricity, it was already at an astounding 403,000 kilowatts! Four hundred dollars wouldn’t even scratch that bill. Stunned, the landlord tells her, “If that is correct, then they probably need to come out and check your meter. Because I can tell you that when I build a house, my monthly bill is about $25 for my temporary power service.”

Eventually, Felicia gets fed up with their landlord and his attempts to step around the problem. He tells her there’s no way his guys “used that much power” to build his new home. DJ’s wife tries to tell him the construction company worker “admitted to running lines from our house” and “charging multiple devices” to their home.

After the landlord hears of the police being involved, he asks, “We can reasonably settle this and move on down the road, right?” He tells the family he isn’t paying them $400 and he’d make a “reasonable offer” instead of that, rather than get an investigator involved, too.

Viewers urge DJ and his wife to press charges

Given the situation, it’s unsurprising people online insisted DJ and Felicia get a lawyer and sue their landlord. They also recommended finding a new place to live, arguing that the situation will only get worse over time. “I would start looking for a new place to live. He’ll find ways to retaliate against you,” a viewer wrote.

Commenting on the phone conversation DJ posted, a viewer said, “Crossed the line????? He crossed the line by giving out your utilities. The audacity.”

Another commenter brought up the possibility of an eviction notice, and how it’d be beneficial to the couple. “Of course he’s entitled to not renew the lease when the term is up but doing this NOW is retaliation. Get your monies honey,” they wrote.

It’s understood DJ and Felicia will be seeking legal counsel now. When a commenter urged they get an attorney and go to court, DJ responded, “Will do.”
