A woman in Kansas City, Missouri, is drawing backlash on TikTok after she shared a video of herself confronting a pizza shop employee over an order she believed did not match the menu.
The incident happened at a restaurant on Gregory Boulevard, where the customer said she stopped in on a Sunday evening after spending time with her cousin. She ordered two slices of pizza, including the White Tomato option, which the menu describes as a pie topped with mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, creamy ricotta, and a drizzle of roasted garlic oil.
After getting her order, she left the shop but decided to check the box before driving off. Inside were two slices of pizza, one of which looked like a regular cheese slice with tomatoes added on top. Thinking it didn’t match what was advertised, she went back inside to complain to the staff.
It Started Off Badly
When the customer returned to the counter, however, she didn’t immediately tell the employee what was wrong with her order. Instead, she started asking the man if he was “okay,” “competent,” “sober,” and whether he even understood the menu.
At first, the employee looked confused but answered her questions. After a while, he asked her to just explain the issue so he could help. She then showed him the pizza and asked if it was really the White Tomato option. He said it was.
The woman didn’t agree and asked him to look at the menu with her. That was when another employee stepped in and followed her to the menu board to take a closer look.
While the second employee tried to address her complaint, the customer started accusing the restaurant of not taking its menu seriously and that they had just put “raw tomatoes on top of a cooked pizza.” When the man reached for the pizza box, probably to remake it, she took it back and said she would leave a review instead. She later asked for a refund and was reportedly given $20, although it’s unclear how much she originally paid.
In another video, where she did a storytime to explain what had happened, she claimed that the first employee she spoke to in the initial clip had already made her uncomfortable when she came in to order. She said he seemed “upset” and “irritated” with her when she took her time reviewing the menu and had largely spoken to her in what she described as a “condescending” tone.
People Online Felt Her Reaction Went Too Far
While some agreed she had a right to complain about her order if she didn’t think it looked like what was advertised, they also felt her approach crossed the line. “The way u spoke to him. You can’t just approach people like that it’s demeaning,” one person wrote. Another added, “You were beyond rude. He handled you extremely well.” A third said, “Kindness goes a long way. Try it, sometime.”
Others felt the issue itself was overstated. “That was in fact the pizza that you ordered,” one viewer commented, while someone else claimed, “Looks exactly like what you were given.”
Still, some people defended her, especially when it came to how the pizza looked. “These comments are crazy!!! That man was dead wrong for slapping them raw [expletive] cold tomatoes on that pizza and yal know it!” one netizen argued.
Although the video started as a complaint about the food, most of the reaction ended up focusing on how she handled the situation. The clip has now gained over 100,000 views.
