Annapurna Interactive came forward and released the first reveal trailer for Mixtape at the Xbox Games Showcase during Summer Game Fest 2024, and let me tell you, it’s got a whole vibe to it. This teen drama from Artful Escape developer Beethoven & Dinosaur features longboards, Summer vacation, friendship, questionable gravity, and an absolutely killer soundtrack. Mixtape might just be the coming of age narrative that we didn’t know we needed, as it takes us back and floods our ears with nostalgia.

Mixtape features an interesting, and honestly super groovy, coming of age story where you get to experience and explore the teenage wasteland firsthand. There will be drama, rule breaking, romance, daring delinquency, and loads of fun. You’ll defy the laws of gravity and store all those amazing memories while following the story of three teens who are just getting out of school and making their last night together one that’s completely unforgettable; a night like any others where they’ll attend their final party together.

However, what really gets me the most about it, is how accurately Beethoven & Dinosaur hit that Nostalgia Nail right on the head. The soundtrack features tracks from Devo, Roxy Music, Lush, and the Smashing Pumpkins, Iggy Pop, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, and more, each designed to pull these three teens into their own minds where they’ll play out some of their most unforgettable memories together, and each and every one of the core memories that shaped them into who they are.
