Finally, after waiting for many months, players can jump into the newest entry of the Modern Warfare series. It seems Activision has finally re-lit the lost fire of Call of Duty with this game, and fans couldn’t be happier. Once again, we have a good campaign section with an even more fantastic multiplayer section. Modern Warfare 2 is also crossplay, which means your friend or opponent doesn’t need to have the same platform as you. But if you want to disable the crossplay of Modern Warfare 2 on your Xbox console, then here is how you can do it.
How to Disable Modern Warfare 2 Crossplay on Xbox
One of the best things added to popular multiplayer games like Call of Duty games is the crossplay ability that allows players to play with their friends, regardless of their platform. There were times when friends would have to buy the console their friends had, even if they didn’t like it, just to play with them.
While this is a good option for a lot of players, there are many players that prefer not to use crossplay. The main reason for that is you might end up playing against a player who uses a PC. So basically, they have a much more precise aim than you because they use a mouse and keyboard.
In the situations like these, it is best to turn off the crossplay of the game so you would compete with players that use the same platform as you. In the case of Modern Warfare 2, you can’t turn off the crossplay from the game setting, but there is another way you can do it.
The method you can use to turn off the crossplay of Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox is to turn off this option from the console’s settings. So first, press the Xbox button on your controller and then select settings.
From there, select General and then Online Safety and Family. In the opened window, select Privacy and Online Safety, and from there, open Xbox Privacy. In there, you should be able to see the View Details and Customize option. Select it and then choose Communication and Multiplayer.

In there, you will see the You Can Join Cross-Network Play option that you must select and change its setting from Allow to Block. After that, you will receive a message when you try to play the game asking for authorization. Once it’s done, you should be able to play Modern Warfare 2 on your Xbox without worrying about crossplay.
Modern Warfare 2 is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
