Monster Hunter Outlanders Hands-off Impressions – Let The Hunt Begin

A new and gorgeous hunting experience

Monster Hunter Wilds and Monster Hunter Stories 3 might be the two games making big splashes in the monster-hunting community right now, but that won’t be the case anymore as Monster Hunter Outlanders has unveiled a lot of information regarding many of its systems, characters, and huge creatures waiting to be hunted. Recently, I had the opportunity to attend a hands-off event of Monster Hunter Outlanders, and I’m convinced this is the game that flawlessly bridges the classic monster-hunting loop we love with some much-needed modern additions that the mainline series could benefit from.

Monster Hunter Outlanders Adds Many New Features to the Classic Monster-hunting Experience

Monster Hunter Outlanders might be coming to mobile devices only, but that doesn’t mean the monster-hunting experience will be less exciting. Instead, it is bringing all of the series’ systems into a more approachable landscape. For starters, all your hunting will happen through simple button presses, which still maintain that frenetic monster-hunting feel, but let you pull off your combos and iconic moves from each weapon in an easier-to-grasp way, which is perfect for mobile devices. There’s even a new lock-on system coming, which will make fights much easier.

Beyond that, you’ll be able to bring your Adventurer along for the ride, which is your playable character. Like in other Monster Hunter titles, you’ll be able to customize their looks and play style. However, you’ll also be able to recruit other Adventurers that come with different combat roles, such as Assault, Disruptor, and Support. And since companions are a key aspect of the series, Monster Hunter Outlanders brings a familiar buddy alongside two new ones. Assault characters will be able to bring a Palico, Disruptor members a Rutaco, and Support Adventurers a Trillan.

And if you didn’t know, Aesoland will also feature many systems that will make veteran players feel right at home, such as crafting and questing, but also some other dangerous activities, such as taking down the new “Radiant” species. These monsters are exclusive to Monster Hunter Outlanders and will put everyone’s skills to the test.

If you manage to attend TGS 2025, you’ll be able to try Monster Hunter Outlanders for the first time. The demo will feature the Grand Archipelago area and the Radiant Rathalos and Pukei Pukei fights, which are great ways to introduce players to all the new mechanics of this game.

If you’re excited for a new Monster Hunter experience that you can take with you anywhere you go, remember to sign up for the game on the official website. Who knows? You might get to test this mobile monster-hunting adventure before its release.
