At the end of the first act of Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, we leave Mahana Village and Kamuna Island. It’s then that Kyle tells Tsukino to keep an eye on our party, and she’ll start spying on us. If you manage to unveil her hiding locations seven times in total throughout the story quests, you will be able to unlock Downy Crake birds as your House decorations. To make sure you get each Downy Crakes easily as you progress through the story, we’ve compiled a list of where and when you can find Tsukino and Crakes in Monster Hunter Stories 2.
Monster Hunter Stories 2 – Tsukino’s Hiding Places and Downy Crake Rewards
(Updated on July 29, 2024 – updated links and clarified quest steps)
The game of hide-and-seek with Tsukino pretty much starts the moment we get into Rutoh Village. Looking for Tsukino by turning over every rock inside any village we are in might not cross your mind in your first playthrough, especially if you’re not used to playing RPGs with missable events. Thankfully, this guide will show you the complete list of the Felyne’s hideaway and when you can start looking for her.
Downy Crake Reward | How to Trigger Tsukino’s Location | Tsukino Hiding Place |
A Crake in a cage outside your House. | Instantly unlocked when you get to Rutoh Village. | – |
A Crake on the Chest. | The first time you enter Rutoh Village. | Inside a barrel near the Rutoh Village Elder Maolo. |
A Crake on the bookshelf. | Start the “An Invisible Enemy” quest. | Hidden beside a bush near Rutoh Village Catavan, disguised as a Catavan guide. |
A Crake inside the nest in the House. | Meet Tsukino during “The Villager’s Request” in the Alcala Cave. | Near the Rutoh Village’s Stables, as a Female Felyne NPC. |

A Crake on the ladder. | During the “Next Stop, Kuan Village” quest after you beat the boss. After you talk to the Chief and meet Navirou’s fan club. | In front of Kuan Village’s Christmas tree, behind two Navirou fans. |
Additional Crake inside the nest in the House. | During the “Cave Dweller” and “Mine Mayhem” quests. | Near destroyed houses in the northern area of Kuan Village, disguised as a snowman. |
A Crake on your bed’s decor (+ Tsukino outfit for Navirou after you collect them all). | During the “Soaring Bolt” and “Windmills and Lightning” quests. Defeat the boss and talk to the Chief, but don’t speak to the villager right away. | In front of the house right behind Kuan Chief Daul. Disguised as a lower brick part of the house’s wall. |
“Hmm, in that case, let’s do this. I’ll go hide again and if you can find them all, I’ll give you a reward… how does that sound?”
Thankfully, you can try finding Tsukino and collecting the Crake birds again in Monster Hunter Stories 2‘s post-game if you missed them the first time around. Simply bring Kyle along to one of the villages she can hide in after you beat the game. Speak to Tsukino, and you can get the dialog to reset.
