Two Deviants from Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, Soulseer Mizustune and Elderfrost Gammoth, come to Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin 1.3.0 Title Update. These Deviant monsters look great and they also have strengths that rival even the powerful Elder Dragons. Let’s take a look at how you can obtain yourself a Soulseer Mizutsune as a Monstie in Monster Hunter Stories 2.
Monster Hunter Stories 2 – How To Get Soulseer Mizutsune
To get a Soulseer Mizutsune egg, you need to take on the newly added “Co-Op Quest ★8:(Explore) Water Eggs.” from the Quest Board. As you can expect, this is a quest where you go in with another Rider. Though if you start the quest alone, a randomized AI Rider will tag along instead. Although sometimes depending on which character you got, playing with an AI Rider isn’t advisable and it’s better to look for a real co-op partner.
As you can expect, aside from a chance of getting a Soulseer Mizutsune egg, all eggs in this quest contain Water element Monsties. This makes it perfect for farming Genes from Water monsters like normal Mizutsune or Lagiacrus, thus you might want to use a higher tier of Expedition Tickets to get better eggs during the quest. Don’t forget to apply the Finding Charm for an increased chance of getting rare Genes as well.
The “★8:(Explore) Water Eggs Co-Op Quest” will only be finished after you and your partner defeat the boss Soulseer Mizutsune in the last nest. Soulseer Mizutsune itself is a Speed-type monster that is weak against Thunder element attacks. And these are the best weapon types you can use to break each body part of the squeaky-clean Leviathan:
- Body: Slash, Blunt
- Tail: Slash, Blunt
- Legs: Slash, Blunt
For more details about its weakness, you can head over to our Monsters Weaknesses list guide. Once you beat it, you will get the materials to let you craft the Soulseer Armor+, containing Sealbreaker (L), Self-Heal (L), and Dancer (XL). If you need more materials, on September 16, the “★9 (Slay) Soulseer Mizutsune” Quest and “★8 Heavenly Eye” Subquest will be added as well. Meanwhile, as a Monstie, Soulseer Mizutsune will have unique skills called:
- Groom – Foxflame Gene (L), Level 15: Speed type. Increase Water damage but lower Thunder resistance for 3 turns.
- Foxflame Trap – S Trap Gene (XL), Level 40: Speed type. Sets a Fire trap that activates after 2 turns. Medium chance to inflict Burn but cannot be set if you lose Head-to-Head.
And that’s it, good luck on your hunts and ransacking monsters’ nests! Don’t forget to check our other guides on Tribes of Midgard, Genshin Impact, and others. Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is now available on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
