There are some movies whose premise must have taken days of brainstorming sessions to put together. And then there are movies that were invented when the writer had a bolt out of the blue moment of inspiration while looking at something. In this case, the writer was clearly watching some Monster Trucks when they had an idea;
According to IMDb, Monster Trucks’ official synopsis is as follows;
“Looking for any way to get away from the life and town he was born into, Tripp (Lucas Till), a high school senior, builds a Monster Truck from bits and pieces of scrapped cars. After an accident at a nearby oil-drilling site displaces a strange and subterranean creature with a taste and a talent for speed, Tripp may have just found the key to getting out of town and a most unlikely friend.”
This movie was first announced back in 2013 when Paramount announced that they were going to create a new animated/live action movie franchise with Trucks being the first installment. Principal photography began in 2014 and they’ve been quietly working on since. When they say franchise, it’s unclear if they mean that this will be a unified cinema universe like the MCU or DCEU.
Monster Trucks will be released January 13, 2017.
