Mortal Kombat has been out there with Sub-Zero sliding his way into the realm of Fortnite with his freezing capabilities added as gameplay features. We never saw that coming, and now there are more leaks on another MK crossover with an Epic Games title. If you were a fan of Motor Kombat back in 2006 in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, chances are we’re getting more of that in a Rocket League crossover this year.
While famous faces like anime characters, John Wick, and Lara Croft jump into Fortnite, the famous cars are sometimes added to Rocket League with seasonal updates. Lightning McQueen coming to RL is probably one good example of this, but would it make sense if Mortal Kombat characters showed up in this game? If anything, Rocket League is not about the characters that much, it’s about the cars, and Mortal Kombat has nothing to do with that unless we’re talking about an abandoned game mode from 20 years ago.
The 3D Era of Mortal Kombat games used to fashion different game modes, some of which were way off the tradition for the series. We’re talking about Puzzle Kombat, Chess Kombat, and the one we’re focusing on here, Motor Kombat. These were not mainstream modes like the Konquest that the developers would continue polishing in their next games, but they were so much fun to experience, besides decapitating the opponents in basic 1v1 fights. And while we don’t have that in MK1, we’ll probably see it in the Rocket League.
Prominent Rocket League leaker SamLeakss has revealed the news about the next Mortal Kombat crossover with the game, but it lacks detail. Without the characters involved, we can expect to see cars inspired by Mortal Kombat‘s theme or maybe remade versions of the go-karts we saw in Motor Kombat many years ago. There should also be gameplay features like maybe Scoprion’s spear or Sub-Zero’s ice ball added to the game, but it’s all speculations that you should take with a grain of salt.
No release dates have been leaked or revealed for the possible Rocket League crossover with Mortal Kombat and Motor Kombat game modes. However, Rocket League Season 18 has just started, so it could be a matter of days before we get more information about this.
