Joaquin Phoenix Was Tensed on “Beau is Afraid” Film Set
Aster proved that Joaquin Phoenix in “Beau is Afraid” reacted to an intense take. During a Q&A with Emma Stone in New York, at the film’s surprise premiere, he said:
“There was a scene that was very intense for Patti [LuPone], and it was a shot that was on Patti — it was not on him — and all of a sudden, [Phoenix] fell out of frame.”
The director confessed that the “Joker” actor was “really pissed ’cause it was a really good take.” Seeing Phoenix on the floor was confusing, but he understood the situation was bad. Aster said the actor allowed people to touch him, emphasizing that it was not Phoenix’s usual behavior.
Amid the situation, Aster read another meaning to it. He maintained that the actor’s fainting episode on another star’s take was “very poetic.”
Phoenix was not the only outstanding actor on the “Beau is Afraid” film set. He was joined by Patti LuPone who plays his mother. Others include Kylie Rogers, Amy Ryan, Richard Kind, Nathan Lane, and Parker Posey.
This is not the first time that Phoenix will be playing a pivotal character in a film. The 48-year-old starred in the classic hit, “Gladiator.” He also had an award-winning role in 2019’s “Joker.”
