Marvel’s Overwatch competitor hasn’t even hit the digital shelves yet, but one of its most iconic characters has already made waves online. A Marvel Rivals leak on X revealed Mr. Fantastic in all his stretchy glory, and fans are buzzing with excitement– and thirst. With the game’s release just days away on December 6, this reveal has players speculating about how Reed Richards will fit into the competitive gameplay.
The leak shows the geeky Reed decked out in a sleek blue-and-white costume. The design has received praise for combining a modern take on the character with a classic comic book feel. “Damn, they really cooked on his design,” wrote @SteadyFang, echoing the sentiments of many who feel Marvel Rivals has nailed the character aesthetics so far.
On the other hand, social media platforms have also been flooded with thirsty players unabashedly dubbing him ‘Daddy.’ @leo_blvd wrote, “HES SO HOT [crying emoji].” @crazyfacechico added, “That’s not the only thing leaking…” His look has sparked intense reactions, thanks to his resemblance to MCU John Krasinski with a more chiseled and toned physique that has fans swooning.
Fans of the elongated scientist are also thrilled with how NetEase adapts his stretching superpower. Many speculated that Reed would be designated as a Vanguard or tank and compared his top-heavy look with One Piece‘s Luffy Gear Fourth transformation.
While no one knows his role yet, Mr. Fantastic can inflate his torso and buff his damage by generating Elasticity through his Elastic Strength passive. Once you stack enough of it, Mr. Fantastic will become inflated; healing him and boosting even more damage.
His basic attack, Stretch Punch, lets him, well, punch other Heroes from a distance. These are all the other leaked Mr. Fantastic toolkits in Marvel Rivals:
- Brainiac Bounce (Q skill): Leap and smash to deal a knockback attack. You can leap up to six times every time you hit an enemy.
- Reflexive Rubber (Left Shift skill): Absorb damage and launch it in a certain direction.
- Flexible Elongation (E skill): Dash at a target while dealing damage and granting bonus Health to allies.
- Rubber Grip (Right Click skill): Entangle enemies. This can be followed up with a Left Click to yank two more targets.
It’s not yet known when Reed will be added to the game and how much it’ll cost to unlock him. However, Mr. Fantastic isn’t the only fan-favorite Hero left out of the Marvel Rivals 33 base roster. The main villain who orchestrated the clash between multiverses, Dr. Doom, is unplayable despite having a major role in the plot. There are also several references and hints about which characters might be added later, such as voice lines regarding Deadpool and Spider-Gwen’s drum kit.
Nevertheless, whether you’re hyped for his gameplay or swooning over his jawline, Mr. Fantastic is already stretching expectations ahead of Marvel Rivals‘ release.
