MultiVersus has been in the news recently as it gets closer to its full release in May 2024. Warner Bros. Games has just released a new animated launch trailer that shows all of the game’s fighters duking it out, reveals a couple of new characters that we didn’t know about, and hints at a few very exciting additions to the MultiVersus roster that we will see down the road.

The cinematic launch trailer is wonderfully animated and, other than revealing characters, also shows some alternate costumes and a lot of the stages you’ll be able to play in. Near the end of the trailer, the recently revealed Joker shows up on the throne from Game of Thrones and introduces some villains he’s teaming up with, Jason Voorhees and Agent Smith. Before more villains show up, the trailer cuts, hinting that we will soon see even more famous villains join the character select screen. Other than The Joker, a Banana Guard from Adventure Time will also join the launch roster, which was revealed only a few days ago.

Other than the obvious, the trailer throws out some really exciting hints that are easy to miss. At around the 0:51 second mark of the trailer, you can see Bugs Bunny hitting a safe up into a water tank. That results in multiple objects flying out and falling. These flying objects included Octi, the stuffed octopus toy from The Powerpuff Girls, a samurai sword that looks exactly like the legendary blade carried by Samurai Jack, a broom, and a wand, hinting at the Harry Potter universe.

These characters probably won’t be part of the launch roster, but they look like additions we can expect with season 1. MultiVersus will be free-to-play and launch on May 28, 2024.
