Disney released the trailer for the upcoming Muppets Haunted Mansion special coming to Disney+. The new special teases the upcoming mash-up of many of The Muppets characters with Disney’s classic Haunted Mansion attraction at Disney Parks.
In the trailer, Gonzo the Great and Pepe the King Prawn are involved in a terrifying Halloween challenge. They must survive a night within the Haunted Mansion or else they will be stuck in the mansion forever. The trailer also shows how The Muppets and the ride are combining. There are various iconic scenes from the ride in the trailer that Disney Parks fans will recognize like the stretching room and the ballroom. However, they all have a distinct Muppets spin on them.
There are also several Muppets characters taking on characters from the ride including Miss Piggy as Madame Leota and Fozzy Bear as the Hatbox Ghost. Of course, like most Muppet specials, several guest celebrities are joining in on the fun including Will Arnett, Taraji P. Henson, Darren Criss, Yvette Nicole Brown, John Stamos, and Danny Trejo. The late Ed Asner also appears in his final on-screen role in this special.
Muppets Haunted Mansion is directed by Kirk Thatcher, who has written and directed several Muppet shows and specials, including the Muppets revival series on disney+, Muppets Now. Thatcher also co-wrote the special alongside Kelly Younger, who is also co-executive producing.
Alongside the special will be the Muppets Haunted Mansion EP featuring three original songs from the special titled “Rest in Peace,” “Life Hereafter,” and “Tie the Knot Tango.” This new special will be the perfect Halloween treat for both fans of The Muppets and fans of the classic attraction. It’s a perfect blend of the goofiness of The Muppets and the creepy atmosphere of the ride. Muppets Haunted Mansion will air on Disney+ on Oct. 8.
