Sentai Filmworks announced on their Twitter that they have officially licensed the My Isekai Life anime. HDIVE will exclusively stream the anime as a part of their simulcast season (a subscription costs about 5$ a month for those interested). As of now, it is unknown how many total episodes are planned for the anime following its announcement in January.
The anime (with a mouthful of a name) will premiere on July 4th, 7:00 a.m. EDT. The full name for the anime is My Isekai Life: I Gained a Second Character Class and Became the Strongest Sage in the World. It will be a one-hour special showing the first two episodes.
“My Isekai Life”: A Long Name for A Long Loved Series
The story centers around Yuji Sano, who works at a company that is harsh to its employees. After bringing overtime work back to his home, he gets a message on his computer: “You have been summoned to an alternate world!”. Yuji soon learns that this game-like world is complete with status bars and different skill levels. He accidentally tames a slime monster, automatically making his class a tamer. Then, he gains a second profession (sage) and awakens the magical powers within himself. Now, Yuji’s alternate world adventure begins when he follows a slime, the seemingly weakest of all the monsters.
The anime will be based on Shinkoshoto’s My Isekai Life long-running light novel series. SB’s GA Novel began publishing the story with minimal illustrations. PONJEA then launched the manga adaptation in 2018, followed by Square Enix Manga and Books. Currently, the novel is available for purchase on Amazon.
Although Sentai plans to release the anime for home release, the date is unknown at the time. It is also unknown if Crunchyroll or any other platforms will pick up the anime as it airs or after.
