As mentioned, hip hop turned 50 on Tuesday, and Billboard hosted an event in Los Angeles to mark the huge milestone. As expected, many music icons were present for the occasion, including Nas and Lil Wayne. Moreover, the pair attended the event with their daughters, Reginae Carter and Destiny Jones. Before the main event began, the doting dads shared some special moments backstage with their daughters on the black carpet. Billboard captured the beautiful moments on camera and took to its Instagram page to share them. The video showed the foursome dressed in elegant outfits, standing side-by-side with one another.

Wayne donned an all-black ensemble, white sneakers, and lots of jewelry. Nas opted for a navy blue blazer, white shoes, and sunglasses. Lil Wayne and Nas’s daughters also stunned with Reginae wearing a sleeveless pink and blue dress and Destiny wearing a white two-piece and a black crop leather jacket. The foursome were all smiles as the cameras captured them. Billboard captioned the beautiful video as follows:ย

“Family > everything ๐Ÿ™ A backstage moment for girl dads @liltunechi and @nas who pulled up to #BillboardLive: R&B/Hip Hop with their daughters Reginae & Destinyโค.”

On Tuesday, Nas and Lil Wayne reached another milestone in their careers โ€” they were inducted into Billboard’s Hip Hop Hall of Fame, as mentioned. During his acceptance speech, Wayne first expressed gratitude to God, after which he thanked the icons the music industry had lost. Wayne also hailed his fans and the important people in his life, noting:

“This is for y’all, y’all as in my fans, y’all as in the people in the crowd, my supporters, those that work with me, those that work for me, those that work around me, those that work like me. This is for us.”

After his speech, Wayne took to the black carpet, where he was photographed with his Hall of Fame award. After Wayne accepted his induction, Nas took to the stage to receive his award. During his speech, the 49-year-old rapper noted that he didn’t get into hip hop music for the awards but for the art form. Overall, Nas said he felt honored to witness the genre at 50, after many years. Indeed, it was an emotional moment for the rappers – one that Lil Wayne and Nas’ daughters will always be proud of.
