Of the few reasons a gun should be drawn on someone, dog poo is 100% not one of them. Yet, an unhinged Tennessee woman in Nashville determined that a chihuahua’s dookie on her lawn was a matter of life and death, as she reportedly pulled her handgun on its elderly owner, per WSMV. The victim is an allegedly 60-year-old “homeless” man with disabilities who frequents the neighborhood. While passing by the woman’s yard, his chihuahua decided to take a quick bathroom break on the lawn, but she was not happy about it.
‘Not happy’ is probably an understatement, as the Nashville resident was so furious that she held the elderly man at gunpoint after he refused to clean up after his dog. Whether this was the first, second, or third time he let his dog do this isn’t known, but that hardly means he should have been threatened with being killed. When police arrived at the scene, the woman got quite feisty with them as well, as she was later charged with assaulting the officers who arrested her.
“This is one of many problems with lax gun laws here,” remarks an American Redditor. They continue, saying how there are gun owners who believe ending someone’s life is the proper reaction to being cut off in traffic, having their doorbell rung, or, in this case, having a dog poop on their property. “These are not people with a legitimate fear of being victimized – they have a warped sense of what’s a proportionate response.” And while many users agree with that statement, several also seem to “understand” why the woman did what she did.
“Well, I’m not saying it should be legal, but I understand,” a commenter says. “I’m not saying she’s right, I’m just saying I get it,” seconds another. A third indirectly criticizes how many people are partially on the culprit’s side of the situation: “[The] number of ‘I get it’ reactions here is proof America is cooked.” Anyone responsible with gun safety knowledge knows that the only reason you’d aim a gun is if you’re ready to take a life for a valid cause.
Even if some neighbor’s dog pooped a hundred times in someone else’s yard, in no universe is that a valid reason to endanger someone’s life. This Nashville woman’s time in jail will hopefully teach her that.
