It’s here, the next-gen version of NBA 2K21 has been released! With the launch of the Xbox Series X/S, NBA 2K21 is now available worldwide. For PlayStation 5 users, the game will be available on November 12 (November 19 depending on region). The regular next-gen version will feature the freakishly athletic Zion Williamson on the cover. There is also the Mamba Forever Edition, featuring the late, great Kobe Bryant wearing his No. 24 jersey. More information on each version here.
Next-Gen Improvements
Here are the features exclusive to the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 versions of NBA 2K21:
Improved Graphics
We all saw that teaser of Zion Williamson in an empty court. We saw the potential graphical improvements and, of course, the sweat. This version will feature an “enhanced level of realism and immersion possible only on next-gen gaming platforms.” In addition, it will feature the Rail Cam presentation, which provides a full view of the game as well as your electrifying highlights.
Load Times As Fast As Westbrook
I remember when NBA video games distracted you with quizzes while it loaded. In the next-generation version of NBA 2K21, there will be no such quizzes. It’ll take you directly to the action. The built-in SSDs results in incredibly short load times. This means more dunking; less waiting.
Closer To A Real Game
NBA 2K21 on next-gen will feature the “all-new Lower Bowl” presentation. According to 2K, the arena and crowds are powered by “more than 150 AI characters.” There will be interviews from reporters, interactions between fans and vendors “going about their duties”.
More Control
With the next-gen improvements, you will be given a new level of control over your player’s actions. You can control the arc of your shot, your pivots via the new “foot planting technology” and even your movements mid-air.
NBA 2K21’s Game Modes
In terms of game modes, it will feature the expanded MyCAREER along with a couple of new additions to the series. There’s the WNBA MyPlayer, which allows you to create a WNBA player and take her through a full career. There’s also the all-new MyNBA, which allows you to manage a league of your own. Your rules. Your teams. Your game.
