Today NBC has announced a slew of renewals for the broadcasting network, but sadly there are some series that they’ve just let go. NBC has unfortunately canceled four shows from this year. The Endgame has been canceled, Ted Danson’s Mr. Mayor has been canceled, Kenan Thompson’s Kenan also got the ax, and Ordinary Joe drama has bit the dust.
The Endgame and More Canceled NBC Shows
After one season, the crime series The Endgame was one of the four NBC shows canceled. The Endgame starred Morena Baccarin (Deadpool) as an international arms dealer and criminal mastermind, Elena Federova. The series also starred the partner of This Is Us star Sterling K. Brown’s wife, Ryan Michelle Bathe. Bathe stars as Federova’s opposite, Val Turner, a principled and relentless agent who vows to take Federova down after she orchestrated seven simultaneous bank heists in New York City.
The series finale was on May 2nd and ended with a serious cliffhanger. As of May 1st, according to TVline, The Endgame on NBC was averaging 3.6 million total weekly viewers and a 0.4 demo rating (with Live+7 playback). NBC’s The Endgame drew a vaster audience but a smaller demo number than the time slot predecessor of also canceled series Ordinary Joe.
NNBC CcNBC Sitcom Mr.Mayor, created by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, has also been canceled after two seasons. Mr.Mayor’s first season received average-ish views and has an overall 2-star rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 45% on the Tomatometer.
Tied with Mr. Mayor as the fourth-lowest-rated series on all of the broadcasts is Kenan Thompson’s NBC show, Kenan. The SNL stars sitcom has also been canceled after two seasons.
Lastly, Ordinary Joe, a multiverse-Esque drama, was canceled after just one season on NBC. As Ordinary Joe follows the three parallel lives of the main character, they sadly hadn’t seen this fourth path non-existence for Joe. Although Joe may not have seen it coming, the stats did as Ordinary Joe ranked as NBC’s lowest-rated drama of the season.
Besides cancellations, NBC has also renewed many series for the following year. Renewed shows include Jimmy Fallon’s That’s My Jam, The Blacklist, Grand Crew, American Auto, La Brea, Young Rock, and New Amsterdam(for a shortened final fifth season. Other popular shows renewed on NBC include Chicago Fire(through Season 11), Chicago P.D(through Season 10), and Chicago Med(through Season 8), along with powerhouse Law and Order( for a Season 22), Law and Order: Organized Crime(for Season 3) and Law and Order: SVU(for Season 24).
