Nebraska, a ‘red state,’ is one of the many states whose population of voters generally are Trump supporters. However, with how much farmers are suffering due to the administration destroying the workforce, an online user asks r/Nebraska the prominent question — “Why did you vote for TRUMP?” Redditor hiker119 argues that “Trump is the worst thing for Nebraskans.” Not to mention, if Nebraska suffers, the rest of the country, which depends on agriculture, suffers as well. “What were you thinking?” they ask, baffled. “Smarten up! Dump Trump. Dump MAGA.“
One Nebraska resident claims that their parents are Trump supporters because they want “abortion outlawed, gay marriage repealed, immigrants deported, and better finance management for the economy. Ironically, the commenter lost their job because of the hiring freeze Trump enacted in January. “So much for galvanizing the economy, eh?” A reply says that the bigotry makes sense from someone who supports Trump, “but anyone voting Republican for economic reasons is a financially illiterate moron.”
Another Nebraska commenter chimed in with the reason why their mom voted for Trump: “My mom said it was bc she was sick of the LGBTQ agenda being stuffed down her throat. Not sure how it affected her day to day…. But she was sick of it. 🤷🏻♀️ enough to end up screwing herself,” they explain. “Plenty of people voted for him because he had the R next to his name,” another user notes, referring to how many Republicans blindly voted for the man just because of their political leaning and no other valid reason. One person said their friend voted for Trump because “he’d never vote for a woman.” Another said it’s because Trump hates the same people they do, so he deserves their votes.
One user backs up the ‘hate train’ theory with Trump supporters, who believed that “Trump wouldn’t hurt them and would only hurt the black and brown folks, LGBTQ+, etc, that they don’t like. Turns out this is just the revenge tour, and he’s hurting everyone,” they conclude. While many more Nebraskans chimed in with other reasons, many comments boil down to the same idea that Trump was voted into office because he pretended to care “about rural and working-class white Americans” when this was anything but the truth. The sad thing is that most red states, including Nebraska, would vote for Trump a third time if given the chance.
