Need For Speed: Most Wanted is widely considered to be one of the best Need for Speed games in the series. It is only ever compared to Underground 2 as the all-time great. And it’s even possible that all the games in the series are actually related. However, it is an absolute travesty that none of the best games in the series ever got a remake like so many classic titles are getting these days. But all that might change soon, because according to a leak from a very reliable source, Need for Speed: Most Wanted Remake is not only on the way but should be out as early as next year.
If you have played the original, you’ll recall that it had live-action cutscenes, which definitely didn’t age well. But one of the actresses in the original game, Simone Bailly, who played a police officer, just publicly announced that the Need for Speed Most Wanted Remake is coming out in 2024.

Her original Tweet and Instagram post have both since been deleted, but we’re in luck because once something gets on the internet, there’s no getting rid of it. A screenshot of the Tweet can be found below:
An image of the game or a poster would’ve lent more credence to the leak, but to be honest, Need for Speed Most Wanted fans are already rejoicing regardless. But no matter how reliable a leak is, one should always take it with a healthy helping of salt until an official announcement is made.
The original Need for Speed Most Wanted was developed by Criterion Games. The studio went on to make plenty more entries in the franchise but never managed to capture lightning in a bottle again as it did with Most Wanted. The most recent entry in the franchise, Need for Speed Unbound, was taken quite well by critics and fans alike. It did away with Payback‘s random upgrade system and opted for a unique anime aesthetic for the game’s characters. Taking its arcade roots and wearing it on its sleeve, Unbound gave players all the special effects and customizations one could ask for. Let’s see if the Need for Speed Most Wanted Remake can rekindle the long-lost passion for arcade racers.
