Need For Speed: Unbound has entered its second year of release. And surprisingly enough, the game is receiving a full year of content in four different volumes. Need For Speed: Unbound Vol. 6 is now here as the first season, and it brings the first batch of year 2 content. There’s the Audi partnership, new cars, playlist updates, and more.
What’s New in Need For Speed: Unbound Vol. 6
We’ve got three new changes this season:
- Global Ranking System
- PvP Playlists and New Races/Cars
- Vol. 6 Speed Pass
Brand New Ranking System
The first thing you notice after updating Need For Speed: Unbound to Vol. 6 is a number beside your account. This indicates your level and rank in the game, which you can increase by doing literally anything in the game. The ranking progression of playing single-player story or online multiplayer is the same. With each level, you’ll gain cash and valuable rewards, and once you’re at rank 200, that’s the top of the mountain. With every new season, the rank levels will increase.
PvP Playlists and New Races/Cars
Another bold change that shines in the online multiplayer menu is the PvP Playlists. This is where you get to race online with other players, without having to free-roam to an underground meeting. Everything is set, with four playlists available at launch:
- Quick Match
- Audi RS 6 Rush – A+
- Audi R8 Redline – S
- Vol. 6 New Races – S+
First on the Need For Speed: Unbound Vol. 6 playlist is the Quick Match, which you can choose to join any lobby available. This might include any type of race with a random tier of cars. Next is the Audi RS 6 playlist, loaning an Audi RS 6 to the player for competing in A+ races. For the S tier playlist, there’s the Audi R8 Redline, and finally, the S+ tier features the 25 new races added to the game. The playlists will be updated every week.
New Speed Pass and Bug Fixes
Need For Speed is back on track with its association with Audi, and that includes the new playlists and cars that have been added to the game. If you purchase the premium Need For Speed: Unbound Vol. 6 Speed Pass, you’ll receive the Audi RS 6 and R8, giving you an edge over the other players who can’t buy this car normally in the game.
One substantial speciality of the new Audi cars in the Need For Speed Vol. 6 update is their different handling system. With the Audi cars, the game offers a better and steady grip if you choose that side, and a more predictable and smooth drifting experience if you tune your car for it.
So far so good for a new season of NFS, right? But there’s more. Here are some bug fixes and improvements in Need For Speed: Unbound Vol. 6:
- Hot Laps are not discovered by default.
- Fixed a bug with Linkup MVP tracking.
- Fixed a bug when entering a Linkup while in pursuit/escaping.
- Small performance improvements.
- Improved cars and road reflection
- Improved image aliasing stability
- Fixed “white tunnels” problem
The NFS: Unbound Vol.6 lasts until April 2024. Coming up next, we’re going to experience returning features and game modes from the previous iconic NFS games this year; including NFS: Underground‘s drag races and Hot Pursuit‘s cops Vs racers.
Need For Speed: Unbound Vol. 6 is currently available to download on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
