2024 marks the second year we’re drifting in corners of Lakeshore City. Need For Speed: Unbound has shown to be very well supported by the developers, and year 2 of this game is promising something bigger. During the latest announcement of the Unbound Year 2 roadmap, the developers have teased their vision for the future of the Need For Speed games, showing nothing but respect to the fans and what they desire from the next NFS 2025 title.

The announcement of the NFS: Unbound Year 2 roadmap was shocking news for most fans, for sure. There’ll be four Volume updates in 2024, released as seasonal content. These will include new major game modes, fresh rides, and many more in the Speed Pass. However, there’s something in particular that makes these updates much more interesting.

If you look closely at the image above, you’ll see that each new game mode that’s coming to the game is inspired by a classic Need For Speed title. For instance, the Head To Head races are probably inspired by NFS: Undercover, Hot Pursuit, or even Carbon and Most Wanted 2005. Next, we have the Drag races, inspired by Underground, and then we get to play as the Lakeshore police in a Hot Pursuit-inspired Cop Vs. Racers game mode. Now, with all that in mind, take a look at this statement:

We see this as a year to test and learn and understand what works best for you. Committing to an extended Unbound live service allows us to really build on feedback, which we’ll be gathering in a few ways. We’re working closely with a dedicated Player Council – a great bunch of NFS influencers, core community members, and players to understand what’s important to them and their communities.

With the additions of these modes, the developers are trying their best to understand what fans love about the NFS franchise and what’s best to add for the next game. This is one of the most valuable pieces of feedback from the developers to be as transparent as possible in their subjects, helping players experience a better game while using our responses to clean-cut the best content for the upcoming NFS 2025/2026 title.
