Nelson Mandela’s grandson, Zwelivelile, slams the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, as he clears the air about Meghan’s wedding celebrated like his grandfather’s release.

Meghan was recently interviewed by The Cut, a part of New York magazine. During the interview, she shared how a South African likened her wedding day celebration to the release of South African legend Nelson Mandela, also known as Madiba.
According to the duchess, the South African disclosed to her that the people rejoiced in the streets when she married Prince Harry the same way they did when Madiba was released from prison.
The claims by Meghan Markle forced Mandela’s grandson to slam her.
Zwelivelile told MailOnline that the duchess’ statement surprised him. He asserted that the people of South Africa expressed their joy at the release of his grandfather from prison, and it’s a more important reason than Meghan’s marriage to the ‘white prince.’

Meghan claimed that a cast member on the set of Lion King called her aside and informed her about it. The person told her that when she married into the royal family, South Africans rejoiced in the streets the same way they did when Mandela was freed from prison.
But such claims didn’t sit well with the Mandelas. Mandela’s grandson, Zwelivelile, had to slam her with the “truth.”
According to Zwelivelile, his grandfather’s celebration was a result of overcoming 350 years of colonialism and 60 years of a hellish apartheid era. It can’t be the same, he added.
He went on to state that the people are still bearing scars of the past, and they came out to rejoice in such a great feat after Madiba’s release, including their right to vote.
Mandela’s grandson’s slam against Meghan Markle isn’t the only form of backlash from her statement. There are several reactions, including the ones telling the duchess to get lost as they accused her of utmost disrespect to the legend.
