This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information.

Confirmed earlier at the virtual TUDUM event, Netflix confirmed Aggretsuko season 4. The target release date for the season is December 2021. This (although unspecified) release window was confirmed by western Netflix. Although few details were shown, there was a released promotion image for this season by the official Netflix Anime Twitter account. Here, it can be hinted that there will be a new development between Retsuko and her coworker Haida (who has unrequited feelings for her). The new art also hints at the return of other fan-favorite characters along with new characters in the workplace.

Aggretsuko was created by Sanrio. The anime tells the story of Retsuko, a 25-year-old red panda who works an office job. She is forced to keep doing more and more impossible tasks by her superiors and coworkers, but she doesn’t talk back or oppose the work.  Instead, Retsuko holds in all of her stress during the day and expresses he feelings at night by singing death metal at a local karaoke bar.

The character itself was first animated as a short for a Japanese TV network. After this shortly gained popularity worldwide, an animated series officially debuted on Netlfix in 2018. From there, the series gained a dedicated cult following that praises the anime’s visuals, satire, and often too real commentary on adult life.

Aggretsuko has since harbored many seasons after the first. The first season aired in April of 2018, and then followed up with a second season in June 2019. In August 2020, the third season was released. There is also a Christmas special (released in 2018) available on Netflix. There is also an English dub for those that prefer to watch it that way.

Netflix’s TUDUM event is still underway, with two more days to go. The virtual event is available to watch on Netflix’s official Youtube channel, as well as other platforms like Twitch.
