Netflix announced that you can have watch parties through Discord with a new bot called Hey Netflix. Now, the streamer is not only on your TV, phone, tablet, and video game consoles; it is in the video game-centered chat service.
The Netflix Discord bot has three viewing options: you can watch something by yourself, watch with “someone IRL,” or watch online with people virtually. Everyone in the group can select the country they are from, making it internationally friendly if you have friends in another country.
If you worry about missing out or having things spoiled, the Netflix Discord bot has some safety measures. For one, everyone has to click that they are ready before the show or movie begins. Secondly, threads are generated automatically for discussions. If you want to miss what people are talking about or engage, you can.

Earlier in the summer, Discord expanded to the Xbox ecosystem for Xbox Series X|S and One users. It was announced to arrive on PlayStation before the Xbox deal, but integration has not arrived yet. The Verge reported that it might arrive soon, and it looks like from a dataminer that the integration will be similar to Microsoft’s with Xbox.
Major changes have been coming to Netflix outside of it continuing to expand, like with the Discord bot. In November, a new tier will be available in some countries for a more affordable service that has ads. It will also be in 720p resolution, so goodbye to sweet 1080p for lower-paying subscribers. That will be in addition to the already established Basic, Standard, and Premium tiers. Then we have more changes, as by early next year, it will crack down on password sharing by charging fees for having an “extra member.”
