Netflix released a trailer for Season 2 of Never Have I Ever a month before the season begins. Never Have I Ever is a Netflix Comedy Drama that follows Devi, an Indian-American girl living with a conservative mother, trying to figure out the different aspects that high school has to offer. The show stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as Devi Vishwakumar and Poorna Jagannathan as Nalini, her mother, along with an ensemble cast. The show has been praised for its diversity and for curbing stereotypes surrounding Indians.

Season one of the show was received very well all across the world and was praised for showing the Indian culture in a colorful light, showing its positives and negatives in a funny manner. At their Q2 report meeting in July 2020, Netflix reported the series had been viewed by 40 million households since its release. The show also deals with Devi trying to understand her Indian identity while being in America.

The show is written by Mindy Kaling, the famous actress, and writer of many shows like The Mindy Project and The Office. It is narrated by John McEnroe, the famous Tennis player because he was Devi’s father’s idol. The show also has a cameo voice-over by actor and comedian, Andy Samberg, who narrates one episode of the series.

The trailer for the new season shows that Season 2 will pick up from where it was left off. It shows Devi stuck in a love triangle and contemplating which of the boys to choose; The popular Paxton Hall-Yoshida (Darren Barnet) or the lovable nerd Ben Gross (Jarren Lewinson). It also shows the entrance of a new character played by Megan Suri, who is another Indian student at the High school, which makes Devi insecure and jealous. The trailer is fun and colorful and perfectly encapsulates the show.

Never Have I Ever Season Two comes to Netflix on July 15, 2021.
