The series will debut in September on Netflix and will have 10 episodes.
This first short one-minute teaser gives us a lot of images and to rediscover the amazing Night City. In the streets of Night City, we will follow the story of a young boy who joins the Edgerunners. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Trailer Released
We can see some references to the game during this short teaser and the fantastic animations. For example, we see one of the Night City gangs, the Maelstrom. This body-modification-obsessed gang could play a major role in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
Netflix describes the 10-episode anime series as an ‘independent story.’ Here is the first synopsis:
“Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a 10-part standalone story about a street kid trying to survive in Night City, a city of the future obsessed with technology and body modification. With everything to lose, he survives as an Edgerunner – also a known mercenary fugitive as a cyberpunk. “
The anime series was directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, and the script was written by Masahiko Otsuka (Star Wars: Visions episode The Elder) with Yoshiki Usa (Gridman Universe). Also, Yoh Yoshinari (Little Witch Academia, BNA: Brand New Animal) is the lead character designer and executive director of animation.
In the past, the idea of turning a video game into an animated series did not live up to expectations, but with Arcane, everything has changed. Will this new Cyberpunk 2077 anime Edgerunners also surprise us? We’ll find out by watching this anime on Netflix in September.
